Third Round Results Of Open Team Category

24 September 2010, Khanty-Mansiysk – Here are the third round results of the Chess Olympiad Open Team category for the top 25 tables. Malaysia is participating in both men and women team events at this year’s Chess Olympiad 2010.

Croatia has drawn against Ukraine, 2-2. Ukraine is the 2nd ranked team who have GM Ivanchuk, GM Ponomariov and GM Eljanov on the team; Poland, the 15th ranked team, drew against Bosnia & Herzegovina team, that had won against the English and Russia B team in earlier rounds. Bosnia is ranked 32nd. The performance of GM Ivan Sokolov is BIH’s surprise of the tournament, winning all his three round board games against stronger opposition.

Meanwhile Georgia beats Mexico, 2.5-1.5; While Russia 2 recovers to win 3.5-0.5 against Peru and USA overcomes Chile, 3-1. Meanwhile the tournament’s top favorite, Russia 1 also wins against Italy, 3-1 on table 13.
