Top 20 Improved Chess Players, July 2012 Ratings Is Out!

12 July 2012, Kuala Lumpur – Here is a top 20 most improved chess players for the July 2012 Malaysian Ratings List. Top on the list is Intan Nayli Darwis of Perlis jumping from 1043 to a new rating of 1323. A gain of 380 points.

Another familiar name is Amier Hamzah Mohd Zuhri from Wilayah Persekutuan with a new rating of 1851 from 1616, a gain of 235 rating points.

At the same time, Lim Tse Pin, MCF’s Rating Officer, has issued the latest’s rating list for Malaysian chess players for the month of July 2012.

Malaysia’s National Ratings April 2012

10 April 2012, Kuala Lumpur – The new National Rating for April 2012 has been released by MCF’s Rating Officer, Lim Tse Pin.

For the top 20 Malaysian Juniors, Yeoh Li Tian is tops with a new rating of 2114. Li Tian is currently participating in the Brunei Campomanes Memorial 2012 and making some waves there by beating a GM. This is followed by Wong Jianwen who represented Malaysia in the last World Youth Under-16 Chess Olympiad 2011 in Turkey. He is progressing well up the national ratings list.

Top 20 Most Improved Malaysian Chess Players, October 2011

29 September 2011, Kuala Lumpur – The new National Rated Ratings for October 2011 is out! And a brand new list of top 20 most improved chess players has been released!

Top of the list is Raja Bazli Bot Raja Badli of Selangor, improving a massive 333 points from a National Rating of 986 to 1319.

Second is Benjamin Koo Wei Jie of Kuala Lumpur, another 300+ points quantum leap from a National Rating of 1166 in July 2011 to 1478.

Another familiar name is Tan Wei Ting, sister to Tan Li Ting, improved from 1110 to 1314.

Top 20 Most Improved – July 2011

12 July 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the latest list of the top 20 of the Most Improved chess players for the month of July 2011 released by Mr. Lim Tse Pin, Malaysia’s Rating Officer.

Top of the list is Kughan Ravindran (pix above) with a massive 205 points jumping from a National Rating of 1263 to 1468. Second is Ling Zhan Yang from National Rating (NR) 1327 to 1527. Third is Jackie Chan Sheng from NR 1243 to 1427.

Another notable name is Khairul Azam Mastuki (pix above) from NR 1460 to 1635. Another is Hemant Sathish from India who improved from NR 1395 to 1530. Here is the summary of the top 20 most improved chess players.

A friendly reminder from Mr.Lim Tse Pin to chess players and tournament directors:

For events (Oct to Dec 2010) that you would like to submit for rating
purposes, please use the naming convention in the list. Also, please
use MCF rating for any foreign players (who possess MCF rating) who
play in our locally rated tournament. This is for rating calculation
purposes and better seeding accuracy.  This is a norm practice in any
country who has their own rating system.

October National Ratings 2010

4 October 2010, Kuala Lumpur – The October National Ratings is out! Malaysia’s Rating Officer, Mr. Lim Tse Pin has released the new list of top 20 most improved chess players for the October 2010 National Ratings.

Mr. Nikk Johari Low is the most improved player with 311 rating points and has improved from 1229 to 1540. Included in this top 20 includes  Vinton Wong, Puteri Munajjah Az-Zahraa bt Azhar (pix below) and Iskandar Danial Adam (last July’s most improved player) and Ethan Wong.

Ethan Wong (pix above) is a regular player at the Excel Chess Academy and at DATCC. He has improved from 1377 to 1525 rating points. Well done to all top 20 most improved players. A list of the top 20 is shown below.

Top 20 Most Improved Players July 2010

8 July 2010, Kuala Lumpur – Last night the Malaysian Rating Officer, Mr. Lim Tse Pin has released the new National Ratings for the month of July 2010. He has also worked out who are the top 20 Most Improved Players for the July 2010 release date.

       

Saudara Iskandar Danial Adam (pix left) has suddenly improved to 1450 from 1179 ratings for the July 2010, an increase of 271 points up. Well done to Iskandar. Next on the list is Yeoh Li Tian from 1807 to 2031 points, up by 224 points. Goh Xin Yen is up from 1305 to 1425, up 120 points, while Abdul Haq Mohamed has increased his rating from 1829 to 1942 by 113 points. Surprise, surprise Pn Haslindah bt Ruslan (pix right), Vice President of MCF, also is listed. She improved her national ratings from 1409 to 1508, an increase of 99 points.

The latest full updated April National Rating has just been updated by the Malaysian Chess Federation’s Rating Officer, Mr. Lim Tse Pin.

April National Rating 2010

Lim Tze Pin, the national ratings officer for Malaysia, has just released the new ratings for 900 chess players.

To see whether you are in the 900 Malaysian chess players affected by the change in their ratings, please visit gilachess’s blog or click here or if you had participated in the recent Stonemaster Amateur Special Edition – 1st Leg 2010 recently, you may wish to visit stonemaster’s blog to see the latest rating after the event or click here.

Some further notes from Mr. Lim Tze Pin for tournament organizers (refer to gilachess's blog):

"In the excel file, the following names have been merged into 1 name:
Evan Loo, Muhd Nabil AH, Puteri Munajjah Az-Zahraa Azhar, Shahanas Kamal, Nur Najiha AH

The error was due to difference convention names used by various organisers. I’ve been experiencing a tough time getting those names (from 1100+ single entries into 900+ unique entries). So, the 5 names mentioned above missed my manual scaning.

To all organisers, please use back the names in the database and not include IM, FM, WIM, WFM, NM etc. Their titles should not go into the name column. Also, those chinese with Christian names please put in before the lastname. For indian player, please use their name followed by Father’s name just like malay player (as per national rating database)".

Let's hope our tournament organisers will take note regarding the format of names for players so that our National Rating Officer will have an easier time calculating our chess ratings. Let's cooperate with MCF and make ratings calculation easier to manage.
