1 December 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here are the final round 9 results and final rankings of the Asian Amateur Open 2011 held from 25 November – 1 December 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur.

 

 

Winners Of Asian Amateur 2011

30 Nov 2011, Kuala Lumpur - Here are a few pictures of the closing ceremony of the Asian Amateur won by Ahmad Fadzil Nayan with 8.0 points from 9 rounds of play.

Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib, President of the Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF), was there to do the honours of giving away the prizes.

During the Closing Ceremony, Mr Ignatius Leong, the Secretary General of FIDE had mentioned that FIDE recognised the efforts of the Malaysian Chess Federation of requesting to have more opportunities to organise further International chess events in Malaysia and has within its coffers now a substantial amount of fund for it to channel to the Malaysian Chess Federation. MCF needs to formalise its request and its program to secure the release of the said funds. He also welcome the idea of having a rapid or blitz event be incorporated in chess tournaments and suggesting to make it a compulsory itinerary in all FIDE rated tournaments in the future.

Rank After Round 8, Asian Amateur

30 Nov 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the top 30 ranking after round 8 for the Asian Amateur Open 2011 held yesterday. Ahmad Fadzil Nayan scored 7.5 points, Mohd Khair is second with 6.5 points, Mohd Nabil Azman Hisham, 6.5 points, Yap Abel Jinwei with 6 points. In the same group of 6 points include Manaog Stewart, Md Aliuddin Hj Azahari, Taulani Tukiran, Muhd Syazwan, Mooi Kok Onn Osric of Singapore.

Top 25 After Round 4, Asian Amateur

28 November 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the top 25 ranked players after round 4 of the Asian Amateur Open 2011. Mohd Nabil b Azman Hisham and Yap Abel Jinwei has 4.0 points, the perfect score. Third is Manaog Stewart of the Philippines with 3.5 points.

Others on 3.5 points include Ahmad Fadzil Nayan, Zaidan Zulkipli, Mohd Khair Wahiduddin and Mark Siew Kit-Tze. Both Roshan and Jianwen are on 3.0 points and in the top 25 players.

Results Of Round 4, Asian Amateur

27 Nov 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Earlier this afternoon, the fourth round of play of the Asian Amateur Open and Women Chess Championship 2011 was held and the top three boards gave some surprising results.

First in was the top board of Fadzil Nayan drew against M Khair Wahiduddin, while the second board was won by Yap Abel Jinwei. On third board, youngster Mohd Nabil Azman Hisham beat Chek Kin Keuw.

The last game to finish for the day was Nurul Huda Wahiduddin against Ruzenan which ended in a win for Ruzenan.
