Two Games From ASEAN Age-Group 2011

27 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur - Here are two games from ASEAN Age-Group in Tarakan, Indonesia where our Malaysian Under-10 Girls team did us proud by winning gold in a few events.

The games involved Teh De Zen and Puteri Munajjah Az-Zahra bt Azhar in their rounds 1 and 4 respectively. Both games ended in draws.

Our Malaysian girls in the Under-10 and U-12 brought a Silver and Bronze medals. While our boys Under-08 brought in the Bronze medal. Overall the Malaysian contingent brought home 14 medals comprising of 4 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze medals from the ASEAN Age-Group Chess Championship 2011 from Tarakan, Indonesia.

Malaysia Win 4 Gold Medals At Tarakan

26 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Finally, I managed to get one full report of the recently concluded ASEAN Age-Group Chess Championship held in Tarakan, Indonesia.

Malaysia managed to win 4 gold medals, 6 silver and 4 bronze. We were placed fourth behind winners Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines. Most of the medals are from the girls Under-10 age bracket. Well done, Malaysia!

I wish to apologise for the inaccurate report before this. However, the source of the information (chess-results.com) was also inaccurate at the time of my blogging, which chess-results.com was duly updated much later.

I will update more results from Tarakan, Indonesia  when I have more time.

Malaysia Wins 6 Gold, ASEAN Age-Group

18 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the medal standings in Tarakan, Indonesia where Malaysia is participating in the ASEAN Age-Group Chess Championship 2011. Puteri Munajjah Azzahra bt Azhar did brilliantly in the Girls Blitz U-10 by scoring 7.5 points from 9 rounds. While Teh De Juan, Teh De Zen and Nur Nabila won second place in the Open standard U-10, Girls standard U-10 and Girls Blitz U-14 respectively. NM Tan Li Ting won third place in the Girls standard U-14.

Chess-results.com does not clarify whether medals won were in individual or team events.

However, results from chess-results.com indicate that Malaysia is in fourth position with 6 gold medals, 4 silver and three bronze medals.

ASEAN Age Group Chess Update Tarakan Indonesia!

15 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the round 4 update of the 12th ASEAN Age Group Chess Championship in Tarakan Indonesia. Malaysia has sent a fairly large chess contingent to this event and some impressive results in the Girls U-10, U-14 and Open U-10, U-14.

Puteri Munajjah stands out above the rest with a first rank in Girls U-10 and Teh De Juan in the Open U-10 also ranked first in his category.
