Xiu Deshun leads after round 6, Malaysia Open 2013

14th August 2013, Kuala Lumpur – Chess-results.com has just updated the latest results of round 6 of the IGB Malaysia Open 2013 and Xiu Deshun of China leads with 5.5 points after round 6.

Meanwhile youngster Shreyes Subramaniam suffers first defeat at the hands of Largo Bengt of Philippines during round 6 of the AmBank Chess Challenge 2013. Largo Bengt is the new leader with 5.5 points after round 6.

In the KLK Seniors Open 2013, GM Kayumov Dmitry asserts his supremacy by winning against Bagamasbad during round 6 and is now outright leader of the Seniors with a score of 5.0 points.

Upcoming Chess Tournaments

7 August 2010, Kuala Lumpur – Here are two upcoming chess tournaments in around the Klang Valley over the month of August 2010.

Cerdik Catur

The Cerdik Catur chess challenge will be played at the Kompleks Belia dan Kebudayaan Negeri Selangor in Section 7, Shah Alam this Sunday. For Shah Alam residents, the entry fees are RM20 for adults and RM15 for under-18 players. Non-Shah Alam residents are required to pay RM5 more. Merdeka rapid events

The Merdeka individual rapid open tournament will be played on Aug 28, the Merdeka team rapid open tournament on Aug 29-31, and the Merdeka individual national age-group rapid open tournament will be on Sept 5. The venue for all three events is the Cititel hotel ballroom at the MidValley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur. Entries close on Aug 10 for the first two events and Aug 29 for the third event.

For the individual rapid event, entry fees are RM20 for players below 16 years old and RM30 for others. For the team rapid event, entry fees are RM300 for four-player teams and RM375 for five-player teams. Junior teams (all players must be below 16 years old) will be charged at RM150 for four-player teams and RM175 for five-player teams. For the age-group event, the entry fee is RM25. Senador Leads Going Into Final Round, 6th IGB DAT Malaysian Open 2009

The fight to be 2009 Malaysian Open championship has been so intense that the tournament leader have changed 3 times going into today’s final round.

After 8 rounds, Emmanuel Senador is the surprise leader after he beat higher rated Yu Yangyi of China on board 1.Playing on the black side of the Sicilian, Senador successfully thwarted Yu Yangyi’s fierce attack against his king. After several exchanges, the endgame favoured Emmanuel and the win was never in doubt.

Senador will be meeting GM Negi Parimarjan who produced a fantastic save in his previous round against GM Ghaem Maghami Ehsan where Negi successfully built a fortress using his pawn and rook vs Ehsan’s Queen.

Senador is just ahead of the the other leaders of the pack by half a point so the championship is still open to anybody. Any of the nine persons in the 6 point pack can still win the championship, if others falter. For Senador, he needs an emphatic win to ensure the championship but so do the nine contenders. But against GM Negi on the first board that might be tough for him. Best of luck and may the best player win.

Today’s final round will be the decider who will be the champion.
