Eng Andre Jerome Leads In Sarawak Open

  15 December 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the latest ranking after round 8 for the Sarawak Open Chess Championship 2011. Eng Andre Jerome of Singapore has scored 7 points after 8 rounds of play and is the sole leader.

Followed closely behind are Foo Benjamin of Singapore with 6.5 points and Wong Jianwen (pix left), also with 6.5 points.

Next is the group with 6.0 points that comprises of Kamaluddin Yusof of Malaysia, Efren Bagamasbad of Philippines, Rhobel Legaspi of Philippines, Ahmad Fadhil Nayan and Bueder Thomas of Germany.

 

 

Ninety four players are participating in this year’s Sarawak Open 2011.

Results of Round 8 held earlier this afternoon, 15 December 2011.

Wong Jianwen looks impressive with his third ranking after round 8 and he won his 8th round game against IM Atanu Lahiri of India. Jianwen will be playing on top board in the final 9th round against the current leader Eng Andre Jerome of Singapore tomorrow at 9.00 am.

Sarawak Open Chess Championship 2011

3 August 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is a new tournament to be held in the state of Sarawak. The Sarawak Open Chess Championship 2011 will be held from 12-16 December 2011 at the Ultimate Professional Centre, 3rd Floor, Jalan Bukit Mata Kuching, Kuching, Sarawak over a 9 round Swiss-System tournament.

Time control: 90 mins + 30 secs increment per move
