Abdullah’s Game vs Khairunnissa’, Round 7 Game

14 December 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the round 7 game between Abdullah Che Hassan of the Kelantan Chess Team and Khairunnisa’ Wahiduddin of Renegade Team played on board 2 of the table 2 at the DATCC, Wilayah Complex, Kuala Lumpur last night.

Abdullah played white in a Catalan Opening. Khairunnisa’ sacrificed a black Knight for white’s three pawns by move 11.

By move 31, black was looking at losing its queen. White played 31.Bxg6+, then follows black takes bishop with 31…Qxg6, then a force check by white with the rook, 32.Rh8+ and the King is forced to take the rook at h8, 32…Kxh8, 33.Qxg6! leaving the white queen to take the defenceless black queen at g6. Brilliant play by Abdullah!

Black was not able to press its advantage of having 5 pawns against white’s three early enough. White used speed to wind down black’s position by mobilising its pieces effectively.

As some of the results trickle in, the favourite teams are indicating a win.

Round 6 Pairing, DATCC Team Chess League

 

22 November 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Tonight is the sixth round of the 4th DATCC KL Open Team Chess Championship 2011 and the pairings are as shown below.

For up-and-coming Renegade chess team, we will see a few new faces on the team tonight and incidentally the game is elevated to Table 2 against the early league leaders, Too Less Ordinary.

Meanwhile on table 1, Seahorse Petronas faces top favourites, Najib’s Rojak Team. While Nusa Mahkota Chess Club with Kamaluddin Yusof will meet Abdul Haq’s Kelantan Chess Team on board 3.

Saprin’s family team of Carikomputer Dot Com meets 17 Chess Club on table 4. Mixed team PJMIM will play the Seniors of the DATCC Seniors Team on table 5. To round up the last table will have Swordfish Petronas meeting the newsmen of Bernama Chess Team.
