Wilayah Persekutuan Wins U-18 Team MSSM 2012

9 June 2012, Kuala Lumpur – In Kuala Terengganu, the MSSM Chess 2012 tournament took place from the 4th-8th June 2012 in the Stadium Negeri. For the Under-18 boys event, Wilayah Persekutuan took first place with 12 MP points (6 wins) from 6 rounds. The Wilayah Persekutuan U-18 boys team comprised of Yeap Eng Chiam, Tan Jun Feng, Liew Ken Yew and Fikri b Saleh (pix left).

Meanwhile in the U-18 girls team event, Selangor team won with the same 6 wins from 6 rounds or 12 MP points. The Selangor girls U-18 team comprised of Goh Xin Yen, Nurul Adlina bt Sulkifli, Zahidah Faqeeha bt Azmi, and Tan Shie Mei.

Selangor Champs But Wilayah P Wins Most Gold

5 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur – The Selangor Chess Team won the Best Overall State Team chess with 120+ points in MSSM 2011 held in Penang. However, Wilayah Persekutuan team won the most gold medals with four, all of them in the team event. Meanwhile Selangor performed well in the individual events which gave them the three gold medals.

Penang or Selangor?

3 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur – The MSSM chess competition is ongoing in Penang where the best of each state is competing to become the Overall Chess Champion State for all the age categories in 2011.

Malaysian Chess blogger reports that it looks like Penang is on course to dump Defending Champion Selangor to win the Overall title. Will KL do Selangor a big favour in Round 5 battle since KL is paired against Penang in several categories. While, KL has an outside chance in the Overall title race where their representatives in some Individual categories are not performing up to expectation.

Medal contenders or prediction by Malaysian Chess blogger as at 3rd June 2011, 2pm:-
Penang >> 4 (Gold), 2 (Silver), 2 (Bronze);
Selangor >> 3 (Gold), 3 (Silver), 3 (Bronze);
KL >> 2 (Gold), 3 (Silver), 2 (Bronze);

Nabil, Syakir, Fong On Top After Round 2, MSSM 2011

1 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur – In the Under-18 boys category MSSM 2011 in Penang, the usual suspects are ahead. Nabil, Syakir and Fong Yit San are with 2 points after the second round today. Muhd Nabil (Selangor) won against Muhd Nurislam Yahya of Kedah, Syakir (Selangor) won against Ahmad Azfar Azmi of Kedah and Fong Yit San (Perak) against Wan Mohd Adli of Kelantan.

MSSM CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2011

1 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur - Here is the schedule for the ongoing Chess Championship 2011 organized by The Malaysian School Sports Council (MSSM) at the Tanjung Bungah Beach Hotel in Penang. It is running from 30th May - 6th June 2011 with a six round Swiss System incorporating a one day break for each age category.

Alia, Nabil Are Top Seeds, MSSM 2011

1 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur - In Penang, the annual Inter- State chess competition organized by MSSM begins. For the under-18 age group, the top favorites are WFM Alia Anin Azwa bt Bakri and Muhd Nabil b Azman Hisham for the girls and boys category respectively.

Selangor Becomes Overall MSSM Chess Champion 2010!

11 June 2010, Perlis – Latest from the MSSM Chess Championship is that Selangor has managed to beat Wilayah Persekutuan and Penang to become overall Champion of the MSSM Chess Competition which had been held over the last few days in Kangar, Perlis.

Medal Tally, MSSM Chess Perlis 2010

11 June 2010, Perlis – Here is the final medal tally (courtesy of Malaysian Chess, Lim Tse Pin) of all categories indicating Penang and Selangor winning a total 18 medals between them. Penang has four golds and Selangor has three golds. However, Selangor has four more silver medals compared to Penang. Pls see picture below.

MSSM Catur Di Perlis 2010

11 Jun 2010, Kangar, Perlis – Di Perlis sedang hangat berentap pasukan-pasukan catur negeri-negeri bagi sekolah-sekolah seluruh Malaysia. Beberapa kategori umur dan dipecahkan lagi mengikut lelaki atau perempuan sedang dipertandingkan. Dengar khabar pasukan Kuala Lumpur lelaki dibawah 18 tahun sedang mendahului pasukan-pasukan catur negeri lain (yatzchess). Sementara  ada blog yang menyatakan pasukan catur negeri Pulau Pinang akan menjuarai pesta catur MSSM ini di Perlis (malaysian chess blog, Lim Tse Pin).

Gambar diatas adalah dari blog gilocatur yang menunjukkan pemain Selangor, Yeoh Li Tian sedang mendahului peserta lain didalam kategori umur 12 tahun.

Sementara kedudukan mata bagi setiap negeri seperti di atas bagi kategori bawah 18 tahun bagi perempuan menunjukkan negeri Sarawak adalah teratas (dari blog terengganu chess association)

MSSM Chess Reinstated In Schools!

The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Education Minister, has announced the reinstatement of the 11 sports in schools that were axed earlier by the Sports Ministry with an additional allocation of RM89 million. With this announcement over TV3 News at 8pm, 4th February 2010, chess in school program should be reinstated and long live chess in Malaysian School Sports Council or Majlis Sukan Sekolah-sekolah Malaysia  (MSSM). Hooray!!
