5 Sep 2018, Kuala Lumpur - The results of the recently concluded FIDE Arbiters Seminar held in Kuala Lumpur from 20 to 24th August 2018 has been posted on fide.com.  15 participants attended and 14 participants sat for the exams.

GM Wang Hao declared new DATMO 2018 champion

27 August 2018, Kuala Lumpur - GM Wang Hao, China emerged as the new Champion of the 15th Dato'Arthur Tan Malaysia Open (DATMO) 2018 in this year's edition of the Malaysia Chess Festival 2018. He scored 8 points from 9 rounds. Wang, who has a 2711 rating, outplayed IM Oliver DiMakaling, Philippines in the last round yesterday and won.

FM Nicholas Chan, Malaysia, achieved his IM norm yesterday by winning his last round game against Quizon Daniel. Nicholas scored 6 points from 9 rounds.

IM Yeoh Li Tian, Malaysia, missed his GM norm by not achieving 6.5 points from 9 rounds. Despite that he scored 6.0 points and won his last 9th round yesterday. Li Tian should break into 2500 ratings based on this year's DATMO performance. The Malaysian Chess fraternity will be eagerly following his every tournament and hopes that he will achieve the required number of GM norms in the near future.

Zhang Zhong wins 11th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysia Open 2014

21st September 2014, Kuala Lumpur – The Malaysian Chess Festival 2014 ended today and the winner of the 11th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysia Open 2014 goes to GM Zhang Zhong of Singapore with 7.5 points. Second, FM Le Tuan Minh of Vietnam with 7.0 points, third, GM Shyam Sundar M of India with 6.5 points.

Marfori Philippines declared winning team at ASTRO Merdeka Team 2013

18th August 2013, Kuala Lumpur – The Marfori Philippines chess team won the ASTRO Merdeka Team 2013 event with 17 MP and 31 Board Points. Second, KL Chesskids Team A with 16 MP and 27.5 Board Points and third, Jakarta Baru Chess Club with 14 MP and 26.5 Board Points. The Mayor of Kuala Lumpur City Hall did the honours.
