Surprisingly, Jax Tham and Mohd Nabil are having a hard time in this tournament as they are floundering at the 16th and 7th position respectively. This is a high class field of chess players and some are using this as a practice round for the upcoming Kuala Lumpur Chess Open beginning 6th April 2010.

Best of luck to you, guys, in the next two rounds. May the best player wins! :)

Temporary Road Closures Did Not Affect Third Round KL GP Chess

Earlier this morning, 7th March 2010, as forewarned by news reports of the Le Tour Langkawi, the international bicycle race will end dramatically at the Dataran Merdeka, all roads leading to Dataran Merdeka were temporarily closed though police still allowed some traffic to pass through.

In conjunction with that bicycle race, the sponsors had carried out a Big Walk event from Dataran Merdeka and around Lake Gardens as well as other sports activities on the Dataran Merdeka all morning.

Despite these difficulties, the chess participants that were playing for the KL Grand Prix Chess Rapids 2010, 2nd Leg managed to get through the police blockade and were present at 9 am at the card room for the commencement of the third round plays.
