Aron Teh Eu Wen Crowned New Champion Nat Closed 2013

1st June 2013, Kuala Lumpur – In Kuala Terengganu, the final ninth round was played in the National Chess Closed Championship 2013. Aron Teh Eu Wen won his last round and crowned the new National Master (NM) and champion of the National Closed Chess Championship 2013. Aron scored 7.5 points to win outright.

Second, Fong Yit San with 7.0 points. While third went to Wong Jianwen with 6.5 points and fourth, Muhd Syazwan Zulkifli with 6.5 points.

31 May 2013, Kuala Lumpur – Wong Jianwen of Kuala Lumpur fell to Aron Teh Eu Wen of Perak while Fong Yit San of Perak strengthens his position with a win over Ismail Ahmad of Kedah. Both Aron Teh and Fong Yit San have scored identical 6.5 points.

Masrin, Fong Yit San Jointly Leads After Round 4, National Closed 2013

 

29 May 2013, Kuala Lumpur – The round four results gave some interesting upsets as lower seeded Fong Yit San won his game against top seed Yeoh Li Tian during the National Chess Closed 2013 being held in University Malaysia Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu. Two players are in the lead with a perfect score of 4.0 points, namely, Masrin Erowan of Sabah and Fong Yit San of Perak.

The diagram below shows the final position after white played 60. g3 and black resigned. White has four pawns to black’s single pawn. A huge advantage to white and well done to Fong Yit San.

Li Tian Among Seven In The Lead, National Chess Closed 2013

29 May 2013, Kuala Lumpur – Seven players are in the lead with a perfect 2.0 points after two rounds of classical play in the National Chess Closed 2013 in Kuala Terengganu being held at University Malaysia Terengganu. In round 3, Yeoh Li Tian of Selangor will meet Mark Siew of Perak on top board and Masrin Erowan of Sabah meets Leong Mun Wan of Johor.

National Closed Championships, 28 May-1June 2013, KT

11 May 2013, Kuala Lumpur – The Malaysian Chess Federation has announced on the 3rd May 2013, the upcoming National Closed Championships in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu. However, the format of entry is now via MCF States Affiliates. So if you are from Selangor, the Chess Association of Selangor should nominate you.
