Wong Jianwen Wins Renegade

30 January 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is a picture of the final results of the Renegade Rapid Weekender at DATCC held today over seven rounds of Swiss System pairings. Wong Jianwen (picture left) was declared today’s Renegade Champion.

Wong Jianwen won by scoring 6.5 points from seven rounds of play. Second was Lim Zhou Ren, third was Kamalarifin Wahiduddin, fourth Mark Siew, fifth Low Jun Jian. All four players (2nd to fifth placing) scored 6 points each.

The Best U-1600 went to Norizzudin Afendi Norazman with 5 points. The Best U-1400 rating went to Anis Fariha Saleh with 4.5 points, while the Best U-12 went to Ng Jen Sheng and Best Lady went to Nithayalakshmi Sivanesan with 4 points. The  Best Unrated player went to Mohd Ezmi Mahmood with 4 points.

Wong JianWen Leads Into Final Round, Renegade

30 January 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Today is the Renegade Weekender at DATCC and about 90 players are playing. On top board was Mark Siew Kit Tze against Wong Jianwen (picture left, courtesy of Gilachess.com). Both have 5 points from the earlier five rounds. 

However in the sixth round, Wong Jianwen prevailed and is the sole leader with 6.0 points going into the seventh final round of today’s seven-round Swiss-System rapid.

Wow, just saw that Fikri Saleh beat Norazman Ismail on board 7! That must be some good news to Saleh Abdul Latif (aka GiLoCatur blogger). Not so good for Sumant losing to Chan Sheng Yip on second board. NM Kamalarifin Wahiduddin overcoming Norizzudin Afendi Norazman on third board. Ilhamuddin wins against Tan Yong Zhao, Lim Zhou Ren wins, Low Jun Jian wins.

Renegade DATCC Rapid Chess Weekend - 30th Jan 2011

A HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!

Now that the New Year celebration has passed us all, its time to move forward with our chess activities. And DATCC Rapid Weekender series is back on the calendar with the 2011 inaugural event to take place at the end of the month on 30th January 2011.... starting at 9:00am. With the New Year, comes the New Management and there is a lot of events in store to satisfy all players of all playing strength - chess tournaments for Individuals and Teams, Blitz, Rapid and Classical, National and FIDE Rated events are all in store.... Not to mention, forging chess alliances with other chess organizations to ensure endless activities are organized at the center. Its going to be the year with a bang!!!!

Our first event for the year : DATCC Renegade Rapid Chess Weekend on 30th January 2011 starting at 9:00am. 25 minutes time control with 7 rounds of play. RM25 for all players and RM15 for those U-12 (Psst..... We will be giving certificates to all participants U12 provided they confirmed registration with payment before 28th January 2011)

Details as follows:

This is an open event for all chess players of various playing strength with attractive prizes awarded to the eventual winners including special prizes for junior player, best female player and players who are rated below 1600 and 1400. All players below 12 years old will receive a Certificate of Participation for taking part in this event provided registration is made before 28^th January 2011.

Tournament Format will be 25 minutes per player per game over 7 Round Swiss System Pairing

Entry Fees is RM25 for all players and RM15 for those U-12
