StoneMaster Winners, 3rd Leg, 27 June 2010

27 June 2010, Kuala Lumpur – Here are the top 25 winners of the 3rd Leg of the Stonemaster Amateur Special Edition held at DATCC, Wilayah Complex, Kuala Lumpur. There were 87 participants who participated. The number of participants were a bit disappointing as usually there are more than 100 players for the Amateur chess tournament held by Stonemaster.

The winner of the third leg is Mohd Rezal Che Man with 6.5 points from 7 rounds. Congratulations to all winners and players alike. You may read more of the results at gilachess.com or stonemaster.info. Usually, the latest pictures from stonemaster will be published either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, so wait for it.

4 June 2010, Kuala Lumpur – Got wind of news that the 3rd Leg of the Stonemaster Amateur Special Edition will be held on the 27 June 2010 at none other than at DATCC, Wilayah Complex, Kuala Lumpur. The event is organised by Cerdik Catur Enterprise. Look out for tournament details at stonemaster.info in the near future.

(Note: Hope everything is okay with Najib Wahab as his original DATCC programme had a DATCC Rapid penned for the 27th June 2010.)

Pemenang Stonemaster Amateur Special Edition 2010

Syed, pemain 17 Chess Club telah memenangi tempat kedua sementara Ng6 telah memenangi tempat kelima di pertandingan catur amator ini yang telah dilangsungkan di Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur pada 21 Mac 2010 yang lalu.

Ng6 Is New Leader After Round 7, Stonemaster Amateur Sp Ed

This afternoon, 21st March 2010, before I left the tournament hall at Cochrane Sports Center of Excellence, Kuala Lumpur, the leader was Razali b Hamzah or better known as the Ng6 blogger with an unassailable 6.5 points from seven rounds of play.

He was still playing Syed, a fellow 17 Chess Club player on top board in round 8. Since I did not stay for the prize giving ceremony, I would have to wait for the official results from the other bloggers that stayed back.

There were roughly 125 players in this year’s Stonemaster Amateur Special Edition, 1st Leg. We were informed that previous year’s editions of the Amateur chess tournaments had at least 140 participating players. Maybe there are more tournaments around compared to yesteryears or people are just away for the holidays!

Fireyrook only managed a mere 3.5 points from a possible eight. That’s life! Everyone needs to improve their game to be a better chess player. Or, maybe this year’s set of players are a much improved lot with a lot more playing experience and maybe with more theory backing their plays. Who knows!

Stonemaster Amateur Special Edition Gets Off!

Seen here are a section of the players in the tournament hall. In particular, Haslindah Ruslan playing Shahmina Zulkifli, Hamdan Abdullah (grey shirt), M Zullghafari (blue shirt beside Shahmina), Razali Hamzah (in blue shirt further up) in the second round of play. Each round is twenty minutes per player with eight rounds of play during the Stonemaster Amateur Special Edition played at Cochrane Sports Center of Excellence, Kuala Lumpur on the 21st March 2010.

Change Of Venue For Amateur SE Confirmed!

Latest News: Stonemaster has just sms me confirming earlier news that the venue change for the 1st Leg of the Stonemaster Amateur Special Edition for the 21st March 2010 is official. The shift from DATCC to Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan Cochrane, Jalan Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur is to accommodate the larger crowd for the popular amateur chess championship being organized by Cerdik Catur Enterprise Sdn Bhd.

Currently, the orginal venue DATCC can only accommodate 80 players. However, DATCC is in the midst of expanding its premises. When that happens in the near future, chess tournaments of 140 players will be common.

A map showing the location of the new tournament venue at Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur will be published on Stonemaster’s blog at www.stonemaster.info tomorrow, Tuesday, 16th March 2010.

Berita Terkini: Stonemaster Amatur Special Edition [SE] Di DATCC

Ini ada berita baik untuk para pemain dan peminat catur tanah air. Firey rook mendapat berita melalui sms yang mengatakan Stonemaster akan menganjurkan satu pertandingan catur untuk para pemain  catur Amatur yang dipanggil Stonemaster Amatur Special Edition [SE] di Dato Arthur Tan Chess Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia pada 21 Mac 2010 nanti.

Butir-butir lengkap belum diterima, namun yang jelas ianya akan terhad kepada 80-90 peserta sahaja dengan anggaran yuran masuk RM30 untuk terbuka dan RM20 untuk bawah 12 tahun.

Kita tunggu pengumuman rasmi dari Stonemaster nanti.
