Asian Youth 2011 Final Update!

22 May 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here are the final rankings and points scored for the individual played for the Malaysian contingent in Subic Bay, Philippines that had participated in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2011.

Highest ranked achieved is Teh De Zen, with a fourth placing in the Under-10 girls category, followed by Tan Li Ting with a sixth placing in the Under-14 girls category.

Subicchess.blogspot.com reported that The Asian Youth Chess Championship saw a total domination by India to win 10 gold medals out of a possible 12! The other two gold medals were taken by Philippines and Iran in the Under 16 Open and Under 12 Open respectively.

Asian Youth 2011, Philippines – After Round 3

 

16 May 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the latest points achieved by the Malaysian contingent at the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2011 in Subic Bay, Philippines after round 3. Most of the players have achieved at least a point each except for one girl participant.

Four players have achieved 2.0 points which include Roshan Ajeet Singh, Wong Yinn Long, Sarika Subramaniam (pix left) and Teh De Zen. The scores of all the Malaysian players are as shown in this table below:-

Asian Youth 2011 Philippines Update!

15 May 2011, Kuala Lumpur – At the Subic Bay, Philippines the first round of the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2011 got underway. The early results on the official website (subicchess.blogspot.com) indicated that the Malaysian players that won the first round included Wong Jian Wen (U-16), Teh De Juan (U-10), Wong Yinn Long (U-10), Nithyalakshmi Sivanesan (G-12) and Goh Jia Yi (G-8, walkover win). With the exception of Tan Yong Zhao (U-12) who managed a draw, the rest, by and large, lost their first round games.

There are still some unfinished scores on the board and the complete picture has to wait.

Malaysia Participates In Asian Youth 2011, Philippines

14 May 2011, Kuala Lumpur – The Malaysian Chess Federation has submitted a Malaysian chess contingent to the Philippines to participate in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2011 Invitation in Subic Bay.

The Malaysian youth will be participating in the Girls and Open Categories for the U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18. The players are as listed below:-

 

We wish the young Malaysians the best of luck in the chess tournament and hope that they will try to bring honours and glory for the country they represent.
