1st November 2014, Kuala Lumpur - The Ministry of Works Chess Team 2014 won 2nd best team at the Sukan Kerja Raya 2014 in Kangar, Perlis.

CIDB Wins Chess Team Championship

17 December 2010, Kuantan – At the Sukan Kerja Raya Chess Team Tournament held at Wisma Belia building in Kuantan, Pahang, seven team vy to become the champion of the Chess Team event.

At the end of the sixth round, CIDB chess team has emerged as the winning team (pix left) with a score of 19 pts and 10 MP. They have successfully defended the title they won in Malacca in 2008.

In second place is Jabatan Kerja Raya (Pahang, pix below) which consisted of three State – MAKSAK chess players. They scored 16.5 pts and 10 MP.

In third place was won by Kementerian Kerja Raya chess team with a score of 15.5 pts and 8 MP.



  

Best board 1 went to Mohd Jamal b Jamaludin of JKR chess team and Best board 2 went to Che Zakaria Aziz of CIDB chess team.

For the record, this is the first time that team KKR has won a respectable third placing. Scoring draws against the early favorites, CIDB and PLUS was a major milestone for team KKR. Last two years in Malacca, KKR team was placed in fifth place behind CIDB, PLUS, KESAS and MTD. So winning a top three finish this year is really satisfying and fantastic!

At the same time, hosts JKR Pahang sent a very strong and respectable chess team, scoring a major win over KKR and two important draws with CIDB and PLUS.

  

Earlier this morning the fifth round was held at 8 am and the crucial match between JKR and PLUS was played. The match ended with a major draw 2-2 for both teams. This allowed JKR to remain near the top and PLUS pushed to fourth placing behind team KKR.

CIDB Leads

17 December 2010, Kuala Lumpur – The CIDB are leading after the third round of play with 9 points. In second place is JKR (Pahang) with 8.5 points, in third place is KKR with 7.5 pts and PLUS Bhd with 7 pts.

There will be two more rounds tomorrow. However, KKR will receive a bye-round in round 5 tomorrow.And hopefully meet Senai Desaru Expressway chess team in round 6 at 10 am, 17 December 2010.

Sukan Kerja Raya – Team Chess Tournament Update!

16 December 2010, Kuantan – Here are the full team composition of the seven registered chess teams for the three-day team chess tournament 2010 in conjunction with the two-years once Kejohanan Sukan Kerja Raya 2010. The chess event is being held on the 2nd floor of the Wisma Belia building in Kuantan, Pahang from 15-18 December 2010.

Sukan Kerja Raya - Team Chess In Kuantan, Pahang

16 December 2010, Kuantan - At the Wisma Belia Building along Jalan Sultan Abdullah in Kuantan, the team chess event for the biannual Sukan Kerja Raya is taking place and the appointed tournament director is none other than Khairunissa'. She along with sister Nurul Huda and brother, Khair will help to organise this year's chess event. Sukan Kerja Raya is a sports event held once in two years with participation of 27 concessionaire companies and government departments in the highway and road maintenance industry. The event is taking place over three full days from 15-17 December 2010 in Kuantan, Pahang.

Seven teams registered but six teams turned up tonight at the Wisma Belia. The format of the tournament is a six round swiss event with one team taking a bye in turn. In the first round which started at 8.40 pm tonight, team KKR lost narrowly 1.5-2.5 to host team JKR Pahang. Top seeds, CIDB beat Building Lindungan 4-0. PLUS Berhad had a walkover from HCM Engineering, the team that did not turn up, 4-0. Senai Desaru Expressway had a bye and considered as a win and gets an automatic 2 points.

Second round results. KKR beat Building Lindungan, 4-0. JKR Pahang won their match 4-0 as well against Senai Desaru Expressway. Meanwhile CIDB just won the first board and the other three boards were still playing by the time we left the playing hall at 12.10 midnight. Time control is 1 hour per player without increment.
