27 March 2011, Kuala Lumpur – For the Malaysian chess team going to the SEA Games in Jakarta Indonesia later in the year, please watch out for the Singaporeans who have now studied Lim Zhou Ren’s games in the recently concluded National Closed Chess Championship 2011.

Nur Nabila’s Two Games, NC 2011

20th March 2011, Kuala Lumpur – The newly crowned Woman National Master WNM WCM Nur Nabila bt Azman Hisham receiving her champion’s certificate from Vice-President, Haslindah bt. Ruslan and her prize money for winning the National Closed 2011 held from 16-20th March 2011.

It was announced that the top eight from the women’s category in National Closed 2011 including no. 9, Tan Kar Khei, has been shortlisted for the National chess team and the nine of them will be undergoing a selection trials for the final six members of the chess team to the bi-annual SEA Games in Indonesia sometime this year.

Lim Zhou Ren’s Two Games, NC 2011

20 March 2011, Kuala Lumpur - This year's National Closed 2011 was won by NM Lim Zhou Ren by scoring 8 point from 9 rounds of play. He beat 91 other chess players to receive the winning certificate and prize money for his winning effort. 

During the closing ceremony, it was announced that the top eight winners in this year’s National Closed 2011 plus Malaysia’s top two players, IM Mas Hafizulhelmi and IM Mok Tze Meng has been chosen to undergo selection trials to select the final six players to the SEA Games in Indonesia. The final eight winners are shown below:-

In second place is sister WFM Nur Najiha. She scored 7.0 points. WCM Fong Mi Yen finished third with 6.5 points.

Second is Sumant Subramaniam with 7.5 points.

20th March 2011, Kuala Lumpur - At the National Closed, Lim Zhuo Ren (pix above) takes a commanding lead with another win on top board. He has scored 7.5 points and a clear point from the chasing pack. He will now meet IM Jimmy Liew in the last round. Lim looks set to win the title of Champion and earn the right to use the title "National Master (NM)" in front of his name.

Meanwhile in the women's section, WCM Nur Nabila (pictured above) is the clear leader. She has scored 7.0 points from 8 rounds of play. Trailing behind are sister WFM Nur Najiha and defending champion, WCM Fong Mi Yen with 6 points each.
