UpComing Weekend Chess Activities, 26-28 Feb 2010

This week is a short week as the Maulidur Rasul is a public holiday in Malaysia which falls on 26th February 2010, Friday. For chess lovers and enthusiasts, it will be a busy weekend. Here is what we have for chess activities :-

First off is the Excel Chess Academy’s Chinese New Year Rapids to be held on two-days from 26-27th February 2010 with a 10 rounds Swiss chess rapids. Each player will have 20 minutes plus 30 second increment for each round.

Second, Insofar Invitational FIDE Rated Chess Tournament which has been on-going since 15th January 2010 and the fourth round will be held on Friday night at the 3rd Floor, PKNS Building, Shah Alam, starts at 7.45 pm. Time control is 90 minutes plus 30 second increment (Classical Chess).

Third, MCF is organising the 1st Malaysian Women Masters 2010 to be held at the DATCC from 26th February – 2nd March 2010. 16 players have been confirmed with one reserve player on stand-by.

Fourth, DATCC is organising the DATCC Rookie Tornado Chess Tournament this Saturday, 27th February 2010 at the Dato’ Arthur Tan Chess Centre, Wilayah Complex, Kuala Lumpur. This is for those players with ratings of below 1400 only.

Fifth, University of Malaya is organising the Tun Syed Zahiruddin Team Chess Open 2010 on Sunday, 28th February 2010 at the Ninth College, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. This is an annual event organised by the University of Malaya.

Sixth, Seremban Parade is hosting the Seremban Parade Chess Championship 2010 on the 27-28th February 2010, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

3^rd DATCC KUALA LUMPUR COMMERCIAL & RECREATIONAL CHESS LEAGUE

With the continuing success of the DATCC KL Open Chess League, The Dato’ Arthur Tan Chess Center (DATCC) will organize the sequel league in 2010 named as follows:-

“The 3^rd DATCC KL Open Chess League Team Championship 2010”

in the DAT Chess Centre, Lot 4.20CS, 4^th Floor Car Park, Kompleks Wilayah, No 2, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, 50100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia.

SCHEDULE & REGULATIONS:

This team event, restricted to only 20 teams, is scheduled for every Wednesday night from 19:00 – 11:00pm beginning from 24^th March until 9^th May 2010. This will be a FIDE Rated event played over no less than 9-round Swiss System or Round Robin (which will be decided on the first day of the event, depending on the number of entries received). No more than 2 players above the rating of 2300 will be allowed in a team.

The Prize Fund will be 60% of the total collection.
Time Control: 90 minutes + 30 sec increment from move 1)

Note: The number of days/rounds maybe extended depending on the total number of entries received

To allow for flexibility for working staff and students, a team can register up to 10 players, but only 4 players will be playing each match.
Entry Fees: RM 400 per team regardless of the number of players registered.
For junior team where all players are below 20 years, the entry fee is RM200 per team

CLOSING DATE: FRIDAY, 12 MARCH 2010

ENTRIES AFTER THIS DATE WILL BE SURCHARGED RM 100. TO ALLOW FOR FLEXIBILITY, ADDITIONAL PLAYERS CAN BE REGISTERED EVEN AFTER THE START OF THE EVENT.

CHANGE OF BOARD ORDER, CHANGE OF NAMES, ETC, CAN ONLY BE DONE BEFORE THE START OF ROUND 1 AFTER WHICH THE LIST WILL BE MAINTAINED. A SURCHARGED RM 20 WILL BE CHARGED FOR EACH CHANGE MADE.

TAKE NOTE THAT ADDITIONAL PLAYERS WILL ONLY BE ADDED TOWARDS THE END OF THE LIST. THIS IS STRICTLY ENFORCED FOR FAIR PLAY AND ADMINISTRATIVE REASONS

IF A TEAM DO NOT HAVE A PRECISE BOARD ORDER OR DO NOT HAVE CONFIRMED NAMES TO COMPLETE THE TEAM LISTING (WITH IDEAS TO ADD PLAYERS NAME AS THE TOURNAMENT PROGRESSES), THE TEAM CAPTAIN MAY PROVIDE A PROVISIONAL BOARD ORDER e.g. LISTING THE PLAYERS AS BOARD 3,5,9,10 AND LEAVING BOARD 1,2,4,6,7,8 AS AND WHEN ADDITIONAL PLAYERS ARE AVAILABLE
