Delay Of Start Anand-Topalov World Ch Match 2010

The All India Chess Federation has been reported to send an urgent message to FIDE to delay the start of the World Chess Championship match between Vishy Anand and Vaselin Topalov of Bulgaria due to start on 21st April 2010.

It is reported that Anand and wife is stranded in Frankfurt airport on their way to Bulgaria for the World Chess Championship match. They had departed from Madrid, Spain where Anand has made it his home, last Thursday. As news of the volcanic ash of the Icelandic origins spread, more and more airports in Europe continued to close their operations fearing the effects of the volcanic ash on the safety of airplanes.

The AICF is seeking at least a three-day delay to the start of the chess championship match to allow Anand and his team to find a way to reach Sofia, Bulgaria and to allow time for acclimatization to the local conditions.
