6 September 2010, Kuala Lumpur – Here is a little reminder from the organisers of the Malaysian Open Blitz for tomorrow, 7th September 2010.
The last event for the festival, the Malaysia Open Blitz will clock off tomorrow starting at 3:00pm, after the conclusion of the last round of the 7th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysia Open Chess Championship. The 5-minutes blitz event will be played over 9 rounds with the Top 16 players to receive cash prizes and Top 8 players to qualify for a Knock Out Playing System. The total prize fund is more than RM1,500 with RM 500 going to the eventual winner.
Registration fee is RM 30 each player and the schedule of rounds are as follows:
Round 1 to Round 9 : 3:00pm to 4:45pm
Quarterfinal : 4:45pm
Semi Final : 5:15pm
Final: 5:45pm
(Knock out format is played over 2 games followed by Armageddon knockout if score is tied)
Come and have fun at the BLITZ event and have a chance to meet and beat Grandmasters! There are more than 20 countries participating in this year's Malaysia Chess Festival and more than 50 titled players (including 17 Grandmasters) took part in the various events.
After the event, the stage will be set for the prize giving and closing ceremony of the 7th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysia Open, together with the AmBank Chess Challenge and the 1st Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng International Seniors Open Chess Championship.
