23 September 2010, Khanty-Mansiysk, Siberia – The Malaysian women team did well yesterday by beating the lower ranked Ethiopian women’s team 4-0. Alia, Nur Nabila, Roslina and Fong Mi Yen did the country proud by winning the second round of the Chess Olympiad 2010 here.
They will now meet the ladies from Austria, a 32nd seeded chess team in the third round. There will be 11 rounds of play in total and it is still early to see who will come out tops. For the Malaysian team, doing good and giving a creditable performance is all that we are looking for. Getting an WIM or WGM norm would be a bonus for the Malaysians.
Individual Performance: The following table indicates the performance of the individuals of the women’s team over two rounds of play so far.
