Round 1, Game 1 Results, WWCC 2010

Yildiz Betul Cemre - TUR 5 December 2010, Kuala Lumpur – Here are the round 1, game 1 chess results of the Women’s World Chess Championship 2010 in Hatay, Antakya, Turkey.

Most of top boards were played to expectactions. Two forfeits on boards 10 and 31 giving WGM Ju Wenjun and IM Jovenka Houska forfeit wins.

Surprise losses for the round included loss by GM Hoang Than Trang to WGM Ding Yixia, WGM Natalija Pogonina to WGM Kovanova Baira, GM Danielian Elina  to WGM Shadrina Tatiana and WGM Shen Yang to IM Oved Evgenija on board 26.

Turkish player WIM Yildiz Betul Cemre (pix top) managed a draw against GM Pia Cramling of Sweden.

Rajlich Iweta- POL
It has been reported from official website of the tournament that the Polish player Rajlich Iweta (pix left) has sent an apology letter to FIDE due to weather conditions in her country, the airports were closed and unable to participate the WWCC in time. As such IM Jovanka Houska gets promoted to the second round without play. Similarly, WIM Arianne Caoili of Australia didn’t come to the tournament and her opponent receives a similar bye to the next round.
