Mok, Nabila Win Round 4, Asian Games 2010

Al-Saffar Araz Basim Mohammed-Iraq 14 November 2010, Kuala Lumpur – Two more rounds of chess rapid were completed today at the Asian Games 2010 in Guangzhou. IM Mok beat Abdul Rahman Ali of Maldives while WCM Nur Nabila had two consecutive wins today, the last round against WFM Al-Khelaifi Salama of Qatar. While WFM Alia had two losses today.

In terms of ranking, IM Mok is now 27th ranked, WFM Alia Anin Azwa is in 28th and WCM Nur Nabile in 24th position.

Up next, IM Mok will meet IM Al-Saffar Araz Basim Mohammed of Iraq (pix above), WFM Alia faces Boshra Alshaeby of Jordan and WCM Nur Nabila against Sultana Sharmin Shirin of Bangladesh (By the way, this is not GM Ziaur Rahman’s wife, Sultana. :)).

Meanwhile let’s have a look at the top five players after round 4 of individual rapid.

In the men’s, GM Le Quang Liem of Vietnam heads the list with 4.0 full points and GM Kasimdzhanov of Uzbekistan is second with 3.5 points. GM Bu Xiangzhi of China is also at 3.5 points.

In the women’s, GM Hou Yifan and GM Zhao Xue of China are both solidly ahead with 4.0 full points. They are a full point ahead of the pack. The chasing pack at third is WIM Pham Le Thao Nguyen of Vietnam and two IMs from India, all at 3.0 points.
