20 October 2010, Plovdiv – Five teams are still winning all their match-ups after the round 3 in the European Chess Club Cup of the Open category. The five teams are SOCAR Azerbaijan, Mika Yerevan, ShSM-64 Moscow, Economist-SGSEU-1 and Bihac CK.
Second seed team, St. Petersburg Chess Club suffered their first defeat to the Armenians led by GM Levon Aronian.
Rankings After Round 3 ECC 2010 (Open). Five teams are with full 6 points from three rounds of play. Second seed St.Petersburg suffered their first defeat in round 3. A similar fate befall on fifth seeded team, Baden-Baden OSG of Germany when they lost to Boris Gelfand’s team, ShSM-64 Moscow.
Meanwhile our Malaysian friend, Zulkipli Zaidan, finally broke his duck with a draw against Liodakis Konstantinos of Chanion Skakistiki Akademia, Greece. Unfortunately Ennis Chess Club from Ireland continued with their losing streak by losing 2.5-3.5 to the chess team from Greece on the last table of the tournament in Plovdiv.
