Cheras Challenger is on-going at the Pusat Kecemerlangan Cochrane, Jalan Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur. Some 36 players are participating. 11 players have FIDE rating and some two-thirds have national rating and the remainder without ratings. The tournament is being played over four days, 17-20th March 2010 with a 7 rounds Swiss system and it is FIDE rated. It was also published over fide.com website.
Yat Guo Jie gets second billing after an unknown Bangladeshi, Abedin Md Janul. Mat Zaki Yeop, Paul Marimanam, Haslindah Ruslan, Norazman Ismail, Olivia Madhavan, Nithaya Sivanesan and Francois Wolfaardt, Republic of South Africa, are also playing in this Cheras Challenger.
After three rounds of play, Abedin Md Janul and Norazman Ismail are co-leaders with 3 points each.
