14 March 2011, Kuala Lumpur – At the National Age Group Chess Championship 2011 in Tronoh, Perak, Muhd Nabil Azman Hisham (pix left) has confirmed himself as the winner of the Under-18 Boys age category after beating Fong Yit Ho in the final eighth round of the tournament. In second place is Mark Siew (pix centre) with 5.5 points despite losing the final round to NM Evan T Capel. In third place was Low Jun Jian (pix right) with 5.5 points, too.
In the U-18 Girls age category, Latifah Kaiyisah Mohd Latib has emerged as the new champion with 5.5 points. She won every round except for the first drawn round against Adele Lau, who finished second with 4.5 points. Adele Lau finished ahead of Fatin Nur Nadirah and Winnie Hong Wee Ni who both scored 4.0 points each.
Meanwhile in the U-16 girls, Pavitranayagi Jayamurthey-G finished in top spot with 6.5 points, Sarika Subramaniam and Hoh Tjin Li finished in second and third places with an identical 6.0 points.
NM Wendy Tan Li Ting (pix left) edged WCM Nur Nabila bt Azman Hisham (pix right) to the top spot with a similar 7.0 points from 8 rounds of play in the U-14 Girls age category.
WFM Nur Najiha bt Azman Hisham (pix left) won the Under-12 Girls age group scoring 7.0 points. Puteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar (pix right) finished in second spot with 6.5 points.
Teh De Zen won the Under-10 Girls age category after scoring a fantastic 8 full points! Meanwhile Goh Jie Yie won the Under-8 Girls age category scoring 8 points too!
