Kamsky, Hess’s Round 6 Games, US Championship 2011

21 April 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here are three games from the on-going US Chess Championship 2011 being held at the Saint Louis Chess Club and Scholastic Center, Saint Louis, USA.

The Week In Chess reported that GM Robert Hess and IM Irina Krush kept up their winning streaks in round six of the U.S. Championship and U.S. Women's Championship, respectively. In the penultimate round of preliminary play, Hess won his fourth game in a row and Krush her fifth. They have both become the first two players to automatically qualify for the semifinals in each tournament. The events are taking place from April 14-28 at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis.

The first game involves Group A and GM Gata Kamsky’s game against Daniel Naroditsky in round 6 of the US Championship 2011. Gata Kamsky played black. The Caro-Kann Advanced Variation opening transpired during the game.

Here is the game between GM Larry Christiansen and youngster GM Robert Hess playing as black. Hess managed a win as black against the veteran GM Christiansen. The Bogo-Indian Opening [E11] transpired during the game.
