For this coming weekend, DATCC will be organizing its monthly Blitz Event onSunday, 2nd June 2013 starting with Registration at 10:00am followed byRound 1 to start at 11:00am. The 13 rounds Swiss event will have the usualoffering for the top 8 finishers with additional prizes for Veteran, Lady,U12, U17 and Best DATCC Members prize. Next weekend, on Sunday 9th June 2013, DATCC will also be running anotherone of its Monthly event, the Fabulous Rapid Chess Weekend to be played over7 rounds using a time control of 25 minutes played to the finish. The prizestructure format remains the same where the top 6 winners will win the Openprize with additional prizes for the Best U1600 and Best U1400 players, andthe usual Lady, Veteran, Unrated and Junior prizes including the Best DATCC Member's prize. For the next two weeks from then, DATCC will hosting the 3rd Lim ChongMemorial Chess Tournament to be held on 16th June, and following that, the1st Ketoyong Classic Weekend scheduled on 22nd and 23rd June. The Lim Chong Memorial Chess Tournament (16th June 2013) is held incollaboration with the family of the late Lim Chong, Malaysia's most celebrated chess player, columnist and writer whom passed away during abusiness trip in November 2010. Lim Chong has always been a staunchsupporter of DATCC events and chess in general especially during his yearsas a weekly chess columnist for the Malay Mail in the 80's and 90's. A small reception with light refreshment awaits those who participate in this event. Participants will also have a chance to mingle with media friends of the late Lim Chong including Jan Lim, Lim Chong's widow, who is more than happy to share her memories about her late husband and showing off her collection of cakes for all occasions. The 1st Ketoyong Classic (22nd and 23rd June 2013) is a 7 rounds 2 days event to be played using a time control of 45 minutes plus 30 seconds increment per player per game. The event is scheduled to start on Saturday,22nd June at 8:00pm with Round 1 at 9:15 am followed by Round 2 to be played before lunch. 2 more rounds to be played in the second half of the day followed by the balance 3 rounds on Sunday, 23rd June 2013. The event offers a total prize fund of more than RM 2,500 with the eventual winner to earn RM1,500 for his/her effort.
