7 June 2010, Subic – Amier Hamzah of Malaysia is unbeaten up to round 5 of the Open Under 10 category of the 11th Asean Age Group Chess Championship 2010 in Subic, Philippines and has 4.0 points and currently in third position behind Tin Jingyao of Singapore and CM Tabatabaei M Amin of Iran.
Let’s hope Amier Hamzah (pix left) continues this consistent form and finish in the top two or three of the tournament. To get a FM title, he will need to finish tops in the group and if he finishes in second place, he will earn the CM title. Let’s see if he can achieve one of the two titles.
While Muhd Faqih Aminuddin of Malaysia is progressing fairly okay with 2 points from five rounds of play in the Open Under 8 category. He is playing Huynh Minh Chien of Vietnam in the sixth round of the tournament.
