1 Aug 2018, Kuala Lumpur – News of a new champion has emerged from Biel Chess Festival 2018. GM Shakriyar Mamedyarov has won a critical game against World Champion GM Magnus Carlsen, giving Mamedyarov the podium finish as Champion of Biel Chess Festival 2018 with a round of play still to spare. This is his first win over the last ten years against the World Champion.
