15th March 2014, Kuala Lumpur – Here are the results of the first two rounds of the Candidates Chess Championship 2014 in Khanty Mansiysk Russia. In round 2, Anand played the Slav variation against another ex-world champion, Topalov which ended in a dead draw with two kings on the board. In round two, three boards gave decisive wins to Kramnik, Svidler and Aronian. Three players are now with 1.5 points.
The candidates is a 14 round robin tournament, where the eight players will meet each other twice with opposite colours. The winner will challenge the new reigning World Champion, GM Magnus Carlsen of Norway.
