15th October 2013, Kuala Lumpur - In Nizhny, Novgorod, Russia, Peter Svidler won the Russian Superfinal Chess Championship 2013 by winning the tie break rapids 1.5-0.5 against Nepomniatchi. For the record, Peter Svidler has won the Russian Superfinal for the seventh time. Svidler won the Russian title in 1994, 1995, 1997, 2003, 2008, 2011 and 2013.

The Russian Championship Superfinal 2013 for men and women took place from 5th to 14th October at the State Historical and Architectural Museum in Nizhny Novgorod.
Both events was held according to round robin system with ten players. The total prize fund for both groups is 6 million RUB (approx 138,000 EUR). Valentina Gunina won the women's title with 7/9 half a point clear of Alexandra Kosteniuk.
