Third Round Scores Women’s World Ch 2012

18 Nov 2012, Kuala Lumpur – In Khanty-Mansiysk Russia, the third round first game have been played. Five games were decisive and three drawn. Anna Ushenina (pix above) of Ukraine won against Natalia Pogonina of Russia in the first game. Meanwhile Monika Socko succumbed to a loss against Stefanova of Bulgaria.

White played 60.Nf1 and black resigned. Black queen is trapped with no escape routes. If 60…Qf4, then white takes queen with 61.Qxf4. All other squares are well guarded with pawns and knight with some help from the white king at d1. Best try would be 60..c3, taking the white queen off from guarding the white pawn at g2.
