12 May 2012, Kuala Lumpur – Latest News: National Master Evan Timothy Capel (pix above) of Pulau Pinang was declared the winner of Perlis Gula Open Chess Championship 2012 held earlier today in Kangar, Perlis. Evan scored 6 points from 7 rounds of rapid play.
Second was NM Tan Khai Boon of Pulau Pinang with a similar 6 points score. Third, CM Mohd Fadli b Zakaria of Selangor with 5.5 points, fourth Keok Kai En of Pulau Pinang with 5.5 points. Fifth, Muhammad b Arshad of Terengganu with 5.5 points too.
