14 November 2011, Kuala Lumpur – In the SEA Games in Indonesia, Malaysia sent a mixed team comprising of IM Lim Yee Weng (pix above left) and FM Nur Najiha bt Azman Hisham (pix above right). Six countries are participating in this chess team event which includes Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and hosts, Indonesia.
Our Malaysian mixed team had lost the first round,0-2, to the Vietnam mixed team of GM Dao Thien Hai and Nguyen Thi Thanh A and won their second round game against Thailand’s Saphong Hansing and Chanida Taweesupmu, 2-0.
Today will be the third round of play and Malaysia is listed to play Indonesia comprising of GM Megaranto Susanto and WGM Irene Kharisma Sukandar. We wish our Malaysian mixed team the best of luck!
