Chess Bulletin News From SEA Games 2011

26TH SEA Games Officially Start
13 Nov 2011, Kuala Lumpur - The 26TH SEA Games officially opened last night (11 Nov 2011) at Jakabaring Stadium. Greg Lau, Secretary of Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) sends us some chess news from Indonesia.

SEA Games will be held over 11 days from November 11, 2011 - November 22, 2011 in two host cities, Palembang and Jakarta with 542 gold medals to be competed through 44 sports.

This is the fourth time for Indonesia to be host country for Southeast Asian countries sports festival after in SEA Games X 1979, SEA Games XV 1987, and SEA Games XIX 1997.

Meanwhile, chess will start the first game today (12 Nov 2011) in Swarna Dwipa Ballroom Hotel, Palembang. There are 9 gold medals that will contested by 52 athletes.

Those medals come from 9 categories which are mixed pair chess, asean chess, blindfold chess, men standard chess, women standard chess, men rapid chess, women rapid chess, men blitz chess, and women blitz chess. The schedule for those categories are as shown below :-

Malaysia is participating in most of the chess categories except in ASEAN CHESS.
