Vietnam Wins 6 Gold In Chess

22 November 2011, Kuala Lumpur – In the SEA Games, the chess event was totally dominated by the Vietnamese as they won six gold from 9 events. The six gold came from the Mixed Pair, Blindfold, Men Rapid, Women Rapid, Women Standard and Women Blitz.

Next was Philippines with 1 gold from the Men Blitz event won by GM Wesley So and Indonesia one gold from the Men Standard event won by GM Megaranto Susanto. Thailand won their only gold in chess from the ASEAN Chess event.

Malaysia ended the SEA Games tour with one bronze medal from the Mixed Pair category event won by IM Lim Yee Weng and WFM Nur Najiha bt Azman Hisham.
