Tomsk-400 Declared Winning Chess Team in Russian Team Chess 2012

16 April 2012, Kuala Lumpur – In Loo/Sochi, Russia, the team Tomsk-400 won the Russian Team Championship 2012. Team Tomsk-400 scored 11.0 Mpts. Chessbase.com reported that Tomsk-400 struck gold with a brilliant Sergey Karjakin on board one and 2896 performance. In second was St. Petersburg, with Sergei Movsesian constantly making the difference.

 

 

 

 

Meanwhile in the women’s team, Ladya Kazan won the tournament with a 11.0 Mpts score. Second was Ugra, Khanty-Mansiysk.

PARK SAFE Declared Winning Team- UM TEAM OPEN 2012

15 April 2012, Kuala Lumpur - Yesterday at Kolej Kediaman Ke-9 University Malaya the UM TEAM CHESS TOURNAMENT 2012 was held.

The team PARK Safe won the tournament with 12 MP. The team had IM MAS HAFIZULHELMI, Ian Udani, newly crowned Asian Master Ahmad Fadhil Nayan and Nik Farouqi.

Meanwhile in second place was ARTUR TAN CHESS CENTER team with 10 MP. ATCC comprised of Jax Tham, Yeoh Li Tian, Wong Jianwen and Yeap Eng Chiam.

Chief arbiter was IA Abdul Hamid Majid, and host Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Sabri Musa, Uni. Malaya.

Gula Perlis Open Chess Challenge 2012

14 April 2012, Kuala Lumpur - Here is an announcement of a new tournament in Perlis.

Kindly be informed that in conjunction HRH Raja Perlis 69th birthday, Kilang Gula Felda Perlis Sdn Bhd will be organizing Gula Perlis Open Chess Challenge 2012 on 12th May 2012 at Dewan Belia, Kangar, Perlis. This is a National Rated Event.

The tournament is offering a total cash prizes of RM5,520 and in addition to it there are four units of digital chess clock as lucky draw prizes. Certificates will be provided for the participants whom registered and perform payment before 1st May 2012. Special category prizes such as Best IPT Player, Best Lady Under 18 Years Old and Best Lady Under 12 Years Old are also up for grabs. In total there will be 53 winners in the tournament.

13 April 2012, Kuala Lumpur – There will be two tournaments this weekend. One has a ten year old history over the years and the other a fresh new tournament in a fresh new place.

The UM Team tournament is a one-day tournament for teams of four players, while Seremban 2 will be held over two days, Saturday for the age-group and Sunday for the Open Category tournament in Aviva Green, Seremban 2, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. So take your pick.

Dzhumaev Marat Declared Champion Of Brunei Campomanes Memorial 2012

12 April 2012, Kuala Lumpur – In Brunei, GM Dzhumaev Marat is declared the champion of the Brunei Campomanes Memorial Grandmaster Open 2012 with a final round win over FM Pitra Andika. GM Marat scored 6.5 points. Second, IM Vakhidov Jakhongir with 6.5 points, too and third, FM Pitra Andika, 6.5 points.

Yeoh Li Tian scored a strong finishing win against Malaysia’s IM Mas Hafizulhelmi, during the final 9th round, giving the young Malaysian lad a 6.0/9.0 score. The question is whether this is a good score for an IM norm for Yeoh Li Tian of Malaysia. Tournament top seed, GM Barbosa Oliver finished in 11th position with a mediocre 5.5 points.
