Anthony Liong Wins The Gula Perlis Open 2010

13 June 2010, Perlis – Here are the results of the Gula Perlis Open 2010 held yesterday in Kangar, Perlis. Anthony Liong of Penang took the lion share of the Gula Perlis Open section worth RM 700 in cash ahead of Tan Khai Boon, Keok Kai En and Norazmi Mohd Nor.
The Under 18 section was won by Mohd Sirajuddin Munawwir who takes home with him RM 200 for first prize.

Selangor Becomes Overall MSSM Chess Champion 2010!

11 June 2010, Perlis – Latest from the MSSM Chess Championship is that Selangor has managed to beat Wilayah Persekutuan and Penang to become overall Champion of the MSSM Chess Competition which had been held over the last few days in Kangar, Perlis.

Medal Tally, MSSM Chess Perlis 2010

11 June 2010, Perlis – Here is the final medal tally (courtesy of Malaysian Chess, Lim Tse Pin) of all categories indicating Penang and Selangor winning a total 18 medals between them. Penang has four golds and Selangor has three golds. However, Selangor has four more silver medals compared to Penang. Pls see picture below.

Pre-Registration List, 12th CAS-Octagon 2Q Allegro 2010

11 June 2010, Kuala Lumpur – The Chess Association of Selangor is organising the weekend’s 12th CAS-Octagon second quarter Allegro Chess competition on the 13th June 2010, Sunday at the DATCC, Wilayah Complex, Kuala Lumpur.
On its official blog it has published a list of 34 pre-registered players for the tournament which includes GM Ziaur Rahman, his wife, Mdm Sultana Tashmin and son, Taksin Ziaur. Here’s your chance to play against a Grandmaster of chess. Why not join in?

Russian Factor In FIDE Elections

11 June 2010, Kuala Lumpur – In today’s The Star, Living, SS Quah discusses the happenings to the run-up of the FIDE Presidential elections in Khanty- Mansiysk. Now that both Karpov and Kasparov are in the same camp and both are former World Chess Champions and both are from Russia. It would be interesting how these chain of events will end in September in Khanty-Mansiysk, Siberia, Russia.

However the main event in Siberia will be the Chess Olympiad which will have teams from every country in the world that plays chess.

MSSM Catur Di Perlis 2010

11 Jun 2010, Kangar, Perlis – Di Perlis sedang hangat berentap pasukan-pasukan catur negeri-negeri bagi sekolah-sekolah seluruh Malaysia. Beberapa kategori umur dan dipecahkan lagi mengikut lelaki atau perempuan sedang dipertandingkan. Dengar khabar pasukan Kuala Lumpur lelaki dibawah 18 tahun sedang mendahului pasukan-pasukan catur negeri lain (yatzchess). Sementara  ada blog yang menyatakan pasukan catur negeri Pulau Pinang akan menjuarai pesta catur MSSM ini di Perlis (malaysian chess blog, Lim Tse Pin).

Gambar diatas adalah dari blog gilocatur yang menunjukkan pemain Selangor, Yeoh Li Tian sedang mendahului peserta lain didalam kategori umur 12 tahun.

Sementara kedudukan mata bagi setiap negeri seperti di atas bagi kategori bawah 18 tahun bagi perempuan menunjukkan negeri Sarawak adalah teratas (dari blog terengganu chess association)
