The tournament has seen to generate a lot of interest and enthusiasm from among State Affiliates of MCF and chess enthusiasts in general. It augurs well that such a well-sponsored tournament that panders to the demands of local chess players and teams. From a chess enthusiast perspective, I do hope that such chess tournaments would continue to flourish and expand in numbers to continue to generate further interest in chess and chess development in general in Malaysia.

It has forced state chess associations to organise chess tournaments of their own accord, just to form a state chess team and send a creditable state team to such a team tournament and with a meaningful prize money to boot. This, I think, is a wonderful outcome to have happened in Malaysian chess and as suddenly there is a need to get their state associations well-organised and in order.

Congratulations to all winning teams, state teams, government teams, school teams, IPT teams and everybody involved in running and organising this team tournament, including the sponsors, KaSUGI!
