China-1 Grabs Solo Lead as China-2 Holds India to Draw

China-1 beat Iran 3:1 to grab solo lead with help from China-2 which held pacesetting India to a 2:2 draw. Li Chao and Yu Yangyi scored for China-1, beating IM Seyedjavad and GM Mahjoob, respectively. GM Ehsan Ghaem Maghami and IM Darini Puria salvaged two draws for Iran.

Kazakhstan (above, left) beat Iraq 3:1 on wins by GMs Murtas Kazhgaleyev and Rustam Khusnutdinov. Vietnam blanked Chinese Taipei 4:0, Singapore did the same to Hong Kong. Mongolia and Indonesia drew 2:2. Korea and Yemen also drew 2:2.

In the Women’s, China-1 (above, right) blanked Singapore 4:0 on wins by WGMs Ju Wenjun, Shen Yang, Huang Qian and Ding Yixin.

India could only narrowly beat Iran 2½-1½. GM Harika Dronavalli beat WGM Atousa and three other boards were drawn.

China-2 nearly whitewashed Mongolia 3½-½ on wins by WGM Zhang Xiaowen, Wang Jue and WGM Guo Qi. IM Batkhuyag saved Mongolia from a shutout by holding WGM Tan Zhongyi to a draw.
China-3 and Indonesia drew 2:2. Kazakhstan and Vietnam also drew 2:2.
