Jax Tham emerged Champion with 6 points from 7 games in the field of 16 players. Jax’s only loss was to Fong Yit San, who finished in 2nd place using the number of wins tie-break. CM Fadli Zakaria finished in 3rd place with 5 points after a close last round win over NWM Fong Mi Yen.
The next New Nagas event is being planned as a 2-day 6-round FIDE-rated event to continue the initiative to offer regular longer time control (60 minutes) weekend events into the Malaysian chess scene.
