5 November 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here are two games from the 18th Euorpean Team Chess Championship 2011 currently being played in Porto Carras, Greece. The games involved Alexei Shirov of Spain against Dragan Solak of Serbia and the other between British GM Nigel Short against GM Mastrovasilis, Dimitrios of Greece. Both games ended in checkmates.

Nigel Short fell for the Queen sacrifice and white won by checkmate in the 26th move! As a result, England lost 1.5-2.5 to Greece!
