Kamaluddin Proclaimed Winner At Kulai!

Malaysia Finish With 10 Draws, 2 Wins, WYCC 2010

31 October 2010, Porto Carras, Greece – In the last eleventh round of play of the World Youth Chess Championship 2010, Malaysia finish with 10 draw and 2 wins. The wins coming from Aron Teh Eu Wen and WFM Nur Najiha bt Azman Hisham. Despite not winning any medals in all age groups, Malaysia finished creditably in most age-groups. Chess is not viewed as an important sport in Malaysia and our ranking reflects this perspective.

Malaysia’s best performer was Puteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar (Girls U10) with 7.5 points out of 11 in 11th position, the best and highest among the participating Malayisan chess contingent in this year’s World Youth Chess Championship 2010.

Second-best performer was Wong Yinn Long with 7.0 points, finishing in 19th spot in the Open U08. Third best performer belongs to Aron Teh Eu Wen with 7.0 points, finishing in 31st spot in the Open U12 category.

The other three girls comprising of WCM Nur Nabila bt Azman Hisham, WFM Nur Najiha bt Azman Hisham and Camilia bt Johari came in with 38th, 38th and 40th positions in the U14 and U12 respectively.

The next bracket of girls comprising of Zainoor Ikmal bt Mohd Noor (Girls U08) and Nur Islamurni bt Yahaya (Girls U08) ended with 5.0 and 5.5 points, finished in 48th and 43rd posiitons.

The tables below summarises the 11 rounds of play for each individual Malaysian chess player’s performance and the final 11th round result.

Malaysian Contingent On Fire In Round 10, WYCC 2010

30 October 2010, Porto Carras, Greece – The Malaysian contingent powers to an incredible 7 wins and 4 draws, the best round score so far! Whatever it is, the players were all fired up to show that they can deliver!

WFM Nur Najiha, CM Amier Hamzah, Jagathees Guna Balan, Muhd Faqih bin Aminuddin, Aron Teh Eu Wen, Zainoor Ikmal bt Mohd Noor, Nur Islamurni bt Yahya stamp their superiority with fantastic wins in round 10 of the World Youth Chess Championship 2010 in Porto Carras, Greece. They showed the country that they are there because they can win games!

Azman Hisham Siblings All Win, WYCC 2010

World Youth Chess Ch 2010, Porto Carras, Greece (courtesy of chessdom.com)28 October 2010, Porto Carras, Greece – During the 8th round of the World Youth Chess Championship 2010, all three Azman Hisham siblings comprising of brother Mohd Nabil (Open U16), sisters WCM Nur Nabila (Girls U14) and WFM Nur Najiha (Girls U12) won their respective games.

Meanwhile pacesetter, Puteri Rifqah Fahada, (Girls U10) scored a draw against a Georgian lass in the 8th round. She remains in the top20 of her category with 5.5 points from 8 rounds. The WYCC 2010 has 11 rounds in all. Three rounds remain. The last round will be played at 10 am on Saturday, 30 October 2010.

Malaysia scored 5 wins and 3 draws in round 8. The winner’s roll of honours this time around were William Lee Kah Howe (Open U12), Mohd Nabil b Azman Hisham (Open U16), WCM Nur Nabila Azman Hisham (Girls U14), WFM Nur Najiha Azman Hisham (Girls U12) and Camilia Johari (Girls U12).

Individual Performances of the Malaysians Up To Round 8. Both Puteri Rifqah and Wong Yinn Long are steady with ranks 17 and 26 in their respective categories. WFM Nur Najiha is now making steady progress with 4.5 points, winning the last three games. She is now ranked 47th in her category. Her elder sister, WCM Nur Nabila is also progressing steadily with two consecutive wins so far with 4.5 points, too! Camilia bt Johari is fairly steady, scoring a similar 4.5 points with a ranked 41st in her category.

World Youth Chess In 2011 and 2012

27 October 2010, Porto Carras, Greece – Latest news: The next two world youth chess events has been decided as follows:

The World Youth Chess Championship 2011 will take place in Rio’m, Brazil. While the 2012 World Youth Chess will be hosted by Maribor, Slovenia.

Puteri Rifqah Pushes Ahead!

27 October 2010, Porto Carras, Greece – During the seventh round, two significant wins by two Malaysian players pushes the limelight to these two players.

One is Puteri Rifqah Fahada (Girls, U10) as her third consecutive win in the seventh round catapults her ranking to the 14th from 24th. Second is Wong Yinn Long (Boys U08) as he strikes another win in the seventh round by scalping a young Russian opponent, ranked higher than him. Wong moves from 38th to 26th position in his category. Well done!

The Azman Hisham Siblings : WFM Nur Najiha, WCM Nur Nabila and Muhd Nabil.Malaysia scored six wins and one draw during the 7th round. Malaysia’s winners in this round include Wong Yinn Long (Boys U08), Muhd Faqih b Aminuddin (Boys U08), Aron Teh Eu Wan (Boys U12), Puteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar (Girls U10), WCM Nur Nabila bt Azman Hisham (Girls U14) and WFM Nur Najiha bt Azman Hisham (Girls U12).

Carlsen Dominates, Bacrot Stirs A Win!

image 26 October 2010, Nanjing – At the Nanjing Pearl Spring Masters Chess Tournament 2010, Carlsen storms ahead with another demolition win over Veselin Topalov during fifth round of the prestigious Level 26 chess tournament.

Meanwhile Bacrot creates a stir by winning against Vishy Anand, the current World Champion in the fifth round.

Rifqah Storms Ahead In World Youth Chess Championship 2010

25 October 2010, Chalkidiki, GreecePuteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar (picture left) storms ahead for Malaysia by winning both her fifth and sixth round games at the World Youth Chess Championship 2010 in Greece. She is currently in the top 30 of her category (Girls Under-10) and she has garnered four points, thus far.

The Malaysian contingent managed five wins and four draws in the sixth round of play.

Malaysia’s winners for the sixth round include Mohd Nabil b Azman Hisham (Boys U16), Muhd Faqih b Aminuddin (Boys U08), Aron Teh Eu Wan (Boys U12), Puteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar (Girls U10), and WFM Nur Najiha Azman Hisham (Girls U12) (picture below playing against her South African opponent in the sixth round, WYCC 2010).

The draws are coming from CM Amier Hamzah Zuhri (Boys U10), Lee Kah Meng Elgin (Boys U14), Zainoor Ikmal b Mohd Noor (Girls U08) and Nur Islamurni bt Yahaya (Girls U08).

Individual Performances of Malaysian contingent at WYCC 2010. After the sixth round, Puteri Rifqah Fahada has become our heroine for leading the contingent with a 24th placing in her Girls U10 category for Malaysia. She won back-to-back games in rounds 5 and 6 yesterday!

Camilia Johari is still in the top 40 of her category despite suffering a loss in the sixth round against a 1800 rating Georgian lass. Wong Yinn Long dropped to 38th placing after a lacklustre performance in the sixth round after a loss to a local Grecian player.

Let’s hope our team of chess warriors will do better in the coming rounds. Today, Monday, 25th October 2010 is a rest day for the chess players at Porta Corras, Greece but they will be back for more rounds of play on Tuesday.

dalam dewan 25 Oktober 2010, Tanjung Malim – Pertandingan catur Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Terbuka telah diadakan selama dua hari, 23-24 Oktober 2010 yang lalu dan telah dimenangi oleh saudara Mohd Syakir Shazmeer (gambar di bawah)dengan 6.5 mata. Masa kawalan adalah satu jam setiap pemain.

Kedua jatuh kepada Mohd Saprin Sabri dengan 6 mata dan ketiga Sumant Subramaniam. Keempat diduduki oleh Mohd Faisal Zakaria (adik/abang Stonemaster) dan kelima dimenangi oleh Ahmad Fadzil Nayan dengan 5.5 mata. Saudara Kamaluddin Yusof telah memenangi kedudukan ke-6. Ke-7 dimenangi oleh saudara CM Mohd Fadli Zakaria atau lebih kenali sebagai Stonemaster. Kelapan dimenangi oleh saudari Kimberly Jane Cunanies dari Filipina. Ke-9 oleh Wong Jian Wen dan ke-10 Wan Mohd Fazli Wan Nawawi.

Bapa kepada Shazmeer, En. Azhar b Mohd Said, menduduki tempat ke-11 dengan 5 mata.

Economist-SGSEU-1 Is Winner Of ECC 2010

Click to view full size image24 October 2010, Plovdiv – Economist-SGSEU-1 was proclaimed the champions of the 26th European Club Cup 2010 which ended in a draw against rivals, Yugra of Russia. The seventh round produce draws on the top two tables. Both Economist and SOCAR drew against their respective opponents on tables 1 and 2 in the seventh round of the European Chess Club Cup 2010 in Bulgaria.

Meanwhile Baden-Baden OSG of Germany played to form by beating Mika Yerevan 3.5-2.5 on the third table. Board 4 played by GM Naiditsch Arkaidij of Baden-Baden was decisive. Naiditsch beat Pashikian 1-0.

There were only three wins from the contingent in this round. All came from the boys. They came from William Lee Kah Howe (Boys U-12), Mohd Nabil b Azman Hisham (Boys U-16) and Jagathees Guna Balan (Boys U-8).

In terms of ranking, Wong Yinn Long is the best at rank 13 in his group, Boys U-8. Nobody is in the twenties (20-29).

In the thirties rank include Zainoor Ikmal bt Mohd Noor (Girls U-8) and Puteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar (Girls U-10) and Camilia bt. Johari (Girls U-12).

In the forties rank bracket (40-49) stands WCM Nur Nabila bt Azman Hisham alone.
