KLCA Chess League 2018

28 Sep 2018, Kuala Lumpur - For those of you who like to play chess team events, this KLCA Chess League 2018 is for you. The team will comprise three players per team. It will be played over three Saturdays and over 6 rounds of play. Each Saturday, two rounds will be played. Venue will be at Institute of Chess Excellence (ICE) in Puchong, Selangor. Tournament will begin on 20th October, 27th October and 10th November 2018.

3rd NMA-SG Invitational U2000

28 Sep 2018, Kuala Lumpur - The SG Academy is organising a 3rd NMA-SG Invitational U2000 Chess Tournament, a FIDE-rated tournament. It will held from 17-20th November 2018 in SG Academy in Jalan Kasipillay off Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur.

1st KL Gateway Chess Championship 2018

28 Sep 2018, Kuala Lumpur - There will be a new chess tournament to be held on the 4th Nov 2018, Sunday. A day earlier, 3rd Nov 2018, a chess workshop will be conducted by well-known local International Master.

Malaysia Chess Team Doing Well In Batumi

25 Sep 2018, Kuala Lumpur - The Malaysian chess teams Open and Women are settling in well in Batumi as the Chess Olympiad 2018 unfolds. The organisers have housed them in a five star hotel The Paragraph which also houses five other nations chess teams namely, South Africa, Mexico, Malta, Brazil and Qatar.

The Open Team have scored 0.5 vs 3.5 points against a strong Belarus team in the first round. While the women breezed to a 4-0 win over Djibouti. 

The Open Malaysian Chess Team will meet Afghanistan while the women will meet Turkey in the second round today.

The team has been having early morning walks after breakfast. Temperatures in Batumi are a cool 18-20 degrees Centigrade. We wish them well in the coming rounds of the Batumi Chess Olympiad 2018.

Sunway Inaugural Chess 2018

29 Sep 2018, Kuala Lumpur - There are 83 in the Open Category and 43 players registered for the Under - 12 category of the Sunway Inaugural Chess Championship 2018. The top seed is CM Ikramul Haq Siam of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh with a rating of 2209.

Hillcrest Chess Championship 2018 in photos

17 Sep 2018, Kuala Lumpur - Here are some photos of the Hillcrest Chess Championship 2018 held yesterday in Taman Seri Gombak, Selangor. The tournament has been held at the same school venue over the last three years in a row with great support from the school administration.

RSC Standard 2018 Begins Today

15 Sep 2018, Kuala Lumpur - The Royal Selangor Club Standard 2018 for below 2200 rating started today with three rounds. Fifty players are participating. After three rounds, three players are in the lead with three points.

 

The three leaders are Looi Ka Loc, See Hooi Chin of Malaysia and Cahyadi of Indonesia.

Three more rounds tomorrow and two on Monday.

Hillcrest Scholastic Chess Championship 2018

Mini Chess League 2 Technical 2018

12 Sep 2018, Kuala Lumpur - The Technical section is having an internal chess league amongst its members over lunch hour as a way to promote analytical thinking and having closer staff rapport by playing over a game of chess. 

Each player represents its own divisional engineering section representing Civils, Mechanical, Electrical, Architects and Quantity Surveyors (QS). Anuar Azlan will represent the Civils, Zuhairizan Yusof for Mechanicals, Nik Ahmad Faiz for Electrical, Faiz Fisal for Architects and Yatie Seman for QS.

Over the next month or so, players will be playing a rapid chess game with a time control of 15 minutes 10 seconds plus 10 second increment per move. The mini chess league will be played as a double round robin. This means each player will play twice but with different colour pieces.

Marzaidi will be conducting the tournament over lunch hours as arbiter.

IM Jimmy Liew winner of Ng6 Chess Tournament 2018

8 September 2018, Kuala Lumpur - IM Jimmy Liew emerged as the overall champion of the Ng6 Chess Tournament 2018 held at the DAT Chess Center in Star Parc Point, Kuala Lumpur today. Jimmy Liew scored 6.5 points from 7 rounds of play.
