Mohd Haizal Jamaluddin wins Johor Closed 2018

24 June 2018, Kuala Lumpur - At the Johor Closed 2018, Mohd Haizal Jamaluddin won the tournament's prize of RM 300. In second place, Kamaluddin Yusof and in third, Di Xu Wei. National Master (NM) Abdullah Mohd Kamal finished in 8th placing and veteran Tukiran Taulani in 9th position.

In the ladies category, Pooja Aishwareya came out tops. While Toh Zheng Hong in Under-12 Category, Mohd Shafie Mohd Syakir in Under-10 category and Ngu Gao Peng Eric in the Under-8 category.

Johor Closed 2018, 22-23 June 2018

22 June 2018, Kuala Lumpur - The Johor Closed 2018 is being held in Johor Bahru over a two day chess tournament using a 60 minutes time control and over 6 or 7 Swiss rounds. It is being held on level 36, City Square Tower Office, Johor Bahru.

56 players registered for the tournament.

After the third round of play, five players end with 3 points each. They are Abdullah Mohd Kamal, Tukiran Taulani, Jamaluddin Mohd Haizal, Di Xu Wei dan Voon Min Vui.

Update on 45th Selangor Open 2018

4th March 2018, Kuala Lumpur - The upcoming 45th Selangor Open 2018 will be held at the Grand Ballroom, 5th Floor, CitiTel Midvalley Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The players meeting will be held at 12 noon, 27th April 2018.

The closing date will be on 22nd April 2018. Please check flyers for entrance fees. There will be two major sections: a. FIDE Open, b. Challenger Section.

Time control will be 90 minutes plus 30 sec increment.

Players meeting time has been set at 12 noon, 27th April 2018.  This players meeting has been changed from the original 1.00 p.m., 27th April 2018 as it is a friday and timing will affect muslim players.

3rd March 2018, Kuala Lumpur - The 45th Selangor Open 2018 will hold the FIDE Open and Challenger Tournaments from 27th April till 1st May 2018 at the Grandball Room, 5th Floor, CitiTel MidValley Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The closing date is set on the 22nd April 2018. Time control is 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment. Entrance fees are as shown in flyers below.

Final Rankings for 2nd KIMMA OPEN 2018

24 Jan 2018, Kuala Lumpur - here are the final rankings of the one day chess rapid - 2nd KIMMA OPEN 2018 held on the 14th January 2018.  IM Dimakiling Oliver from the Philippines won with an excellent 7 full points from seven rounds of rapid play. Second was IM Pascua Haridas and third, IM Mas Hafizulhelmi of Malaysia.

About 130 participants participated in the Open Category. 76 players in the U-18 category and 117 players in the U-12 category. A grand total of 323 participants in the chess tournament - 2nd KIMMA Chess Championship 2018.

Nizam Nazhan Syahmi won the U-12 category with 7 full points. Amir Ghazi b Mohd Saprin won the U-18 category with 6.5 points.
