Carlsen’s and Kramnik’s Games In Round 11, Corus 2010

Two games from 11th round, Corus Chess 2010 at Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands. The first was between Carlsen and Dominguez where the Grunfeld Defence transpired. This game gave Carlsen a 500 Euros bonus prize as it was selected as the best play of the day award for an interesting game. While the second game is between Kramnik and Shirov where the Petroff Defence transpired and the game ended in hard earned draw for Kramnik playing as black.

1st DATCC Individual FIDE Rated Weekender 2010, 7th Round Pairings, 31st January 2010

This information dropped in by email box tonight from En. Abdul Hamid Majid, the arbiter for the 1st DATCC Individual FIDE Rated Weekender 2010, the 7th round pairings for tomorrow morning, 31st January 2010.

The 6th round leader at the moment is none other than Nik Ahmad Farouqi with 5 points from six rounds of play. In joint second are Soon Wai Cheong, Nor Ilhamuddin Shaik Ali and Abdul Shukor Abdul Aziz, all with 4.5 points.

At last Haslindah Ruslan has managed to get herself off the bottom of the table with two wins today. Congrats to her for her gargantuan efforts! It is also strange to see two familiar names near the bottom. One is a blogger and the other a well known chess trainer. Well that is chess for you! 3rd Round Pairings, Insofar Invitational Rating Tournament 2010, 12 February 2010

At the PKNS, Shah Alam, Selangor on Friday, 29th January 2010, the 2nd round of plays were completed and the new joint leaders that have emerged are Kamaluddin Yusof and surprise, surprise, Sahir Sarifdin, both with 2 full points from two rounds.

Both these players played for the 17 Chess Club team during the recent 2nd DATCC Chess League 2009 in November-December 2009.

Meanwhile four players are bunched up at 1.5 points. The four players are Nik Ahmad Farouqi, Muhammad Ihsan Najib, Muhd Irfan Najib and Ab Rasib Yunus.
