Ding Liren vs Richard Rapport, Round 8, Biel 2013

Richard Rapport, Hungary

31st July 2013, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the Ding Liren’s game against Hungarian chess prodigy, Richard Rapport of round 8 in the Biel Chess Festival 2013.

The Week-In-Chess reported that Liren Ding defeated Richard Rapport on the black side of a very sharp King's Indian. Ding grabbed an exchange when already standing better and with Ne5 as a very decent alternative. After this he came under a fierce attack but calculated well and Rapport gave up lots of material to win black's queen and once black co-ordinated he went on to the win.

Ian Nepomniachtchi won a Bb5 Sicilian against Alexander Moiseenko. A positional game turned tactical and eventually Nepomniachtchi won pawns to take into a winning rook and pawn ending.

Etienne Bacrot and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave drew a Gruenfeld that quickly converted to a symmetrical Double Rook ending.

Round 8 Standings: Ding Liren 13pts, Bacrot 12pts, Vachier 11pts, Moiseenko 10pts, Nepomniachtchi 8pts, Rapport 4pts.

Round 9 31st July 2013 1pm BST Pairings: Rapport-Bacrot, Ding Liren-Nepomniachtchi, Moiseenko-Vachier-Lagrave.

Four GMs in Biel Chess Festival 2013

28 July 2013, Kuala Lumpur - Here is Ding Liren's winning sixth round game against Moiseenko in the 46th Biel Chess Festival 2013.

The official website of the Biel Chess Festival 2013 reported that Etienne Bacrot leads the Biel Chess tournament with 10/18 (3pts for a win 1 for a draw) a point clear of Liren Ding. Alexander Moiseenko and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave are two points further back. Sunday is a rest day for the players.

Liren Ding defeated Alexander Moiseenko with an impressive victory in 40 moves. Moiseenko set up a Stonewall structure out of a Queen's Gambit.
